Tran Temple is a mesmerizing complex consisting of three main buildings: Thien Truong Temple (Up Temple), Trung Hoa Temple (Center Temple), and Co Trach Temple (Down Temple). Thien Truong Temple, established from the base of Trung Quang Palace, served as the residence and workplace of former kings.

Tran Temple

The temple’s first aisle showcases the altars and plaques of the Tran Dynasty’s mandarins. The other two aisles are dedicated to worshiping the Tran Kings, their ancestors, and the queens. The interior also features altars honoring their queens. Co Trach Temple pays homage to Tran Quoc Tuan, one of Vietnam’s most renowned generals in history. Known for his three epic victories against Mongol invaders, Tran Quoc Tuan is memorialized alongside his family and trusted assistant, along with other esteemed mandarins like Truong Han Sieu and Pham Thien Nhan. Trung Hoa Temple, on the other hand, is a new addition constructed in 2000 to honor all fourteen Kings of the Tran Dynasty along with their highly respected mandarins.

Tran Temple

If you happen to visit the temple on January 15th according to the lunar calendar, be sure not to miss the Tran Temple Festival. This festive occasion commemorates the Tran Dynasty’s incredible resistance against three Mongol invasions. It is also an opportune time for people to pray for good fortune in various aspects of their lives, especially in business.
