    1. Useful Information

Just 12km from the heart of Dalat, Lang Biang Mountains majestically rise, resembling the city’s rooftop. But this natural wonder holds more than just picturesque vistas. According to local legend, Lang Biang is named after a couple deeply in love – K’lang and Ho Biang. Their story, filled with adventure and sacrifice, has become an integral part of the mountain’s identity.

The Story of K’lang and Ho Biang

The tale of K’lang and Ho Biang begins with a remarkable act of bravery. K’lang saved Biang’s life from a ferocious pack of wolves, and their hearts intertwined forever. Sadly, their love had to endure the hardships of a long-standing feud between their tribes. Despite their deep affection, they were forbidden from marrying.

Two versions of the story exist. In one, the lovers eventually wed and settled on the mountain. Tragically, when Biang fell gravely ill, K’lang had to return to his tribe for help. The people, blinded by prejudice, shot an arrow at him. However, it was Ho Biang who shielded her husband and took the fatal blow. Overwhelmed by grief, K’lang’s tears formed a mighty stream now known as Dankia, the Golden Stream.

The second version tells a more tragic ending. Unable to overcome the obstacles preventing their union, K’lang and Ho Biang chose to end their lives together. Their sacrifice touched the heart of Ho Biang’s repentant father. In a bid to heal the wounds caused by their love, he united the tribes under the name K’ho and allowed the young ones to marry freely. The final testament to their love is the towering presence of the Lang Biang mountain range.

The Roof of Dalat

Lang Biang comprises two peaks: the 2,167m Lang Biang and the 2,287m Bidoup Ban. These towering summits have rightfully earned the name “the roof of Dalat.” Besides its lofty stature, Lang Biang is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, offering panoramic views of Dalat City, lush forests, meandering rivers, and the humble abodes of tribal communities.

On the pinnacle of Lang Biang Mountain, visitors can marvel at the beauty of the Golden Stream and Silver Stream. The city of Dalat unfolds like a lush green valley, embellished with two shimmering threads of silver silk—the Golden Stream and Silver Stream.
