While many tourists flock to popular spots, there is a hidden gem that shouldn’t be missed – Suoi Giang. Picture yourself standing on the dry gravel ground, surrounded by the lush tea leaves of Suoi Giang, while local farmers swiftly pick each bud. It’s a mesmerizing experience that showcases the incredible vitality of this place and the warm hospitality of the Hmong local people.

Unveiling the Legend and History of Suoi Giang

Legend has it that Suoi Giang is home to a unique tree called the snow shan tea tree. According to the Hmong people, a fairy planted these mysterious seeds long ago. Over time, the seeds sprouted into green plants. When a group of Hmong people migrated to the land, they stumbled upon these strange plants. They picked the leaves out of curiosity and were amazed to find themselves healthier and more awake after consuming them. Believing it to be a sign from above, the Hmong decided to settle down and named the place “Suoi Giang.”

Location and Climate: A Highland Oasis

Located in Van Chan district, Yen Bai province, Suoi Giang is nestled deep within the majestic Fansipan mountain range, at an altitude of nearly 1400 meters above sea level. The area comprises eight villages with over 740 households, predominantly engaged in tea cultivation. Suoi Giang enjoys a year-round cooling climate, offering a unique experience of all four seasons in a single day. Its weather resembles that of Sapa and Dalat, appealing to winter enthusiasts seeking a perpetual chill.
