According to Mr. Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide, the selection in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City showcases the differences and variety these two cities have to offer to food enthusiasts.
Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, exudes a laid-back and relaxed vibe, with small shops and restaurants mostly found in the old quarter. Traditional Northern Vietnamese cuisine takes center stage in this city, with a clear presentation of natural flavors enhanced by an array of spices and herbs.
On the other hand, Ho Chi Minh City, a bustling and rapidly-growing metropolis, offers a unique energy to all travelers. It boasts a diverse variety of cuisine, blending both modern and traditional cooking techniques. The city showcases a great mix of culinary talents, with young local chefs eager to present their innovative ideas and creations on the plate.
The Celebrated Restaurants and Bib Gourmand Selection
Out of the 103 restaurants featured in the MICHELIN Guide Hanoi & Ho Chi Minh City, four have been recognized with the prestigious One MICHELIN Star for their high-quality cooking. These restaurants are Anăn Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), Gia (Hanoi), Hibana by Koki (Hanoi), and Tầm Vị (Hanoi). Additionally, 29 establishments have received the Bib Gourmand designation for offering good food at moderate prices.
