Tóm tắt nội dung

  1. An Artificial Reservoir Turned into a Weekend Paradise
  2. The Perfect Getaway That Does Not Involve Going to the Airport
  3. Useful Information

Hanoi, with its vibrant streets and thousand-year-old quarter, exudes both excitement and chaos. But amidst this whirlwind of activity, there comes a point when one craves serenity. A place where the mind can find solace and the soul can reconnect with nature. And that place is just 25 miles north of Hanoi, in the enchanting emerald waters of Dai Lai Lake.

Dai Lai Lake - great for canoeing and water-based activities

An Artificial Reservoir Turned into a Weekend Paradise

Close proximity to the capital has led to an increase in visitors discovering the tranquil beauty of Dai Lai. Motels have sprouted up, offering weary weekend warriors a respite from their daily routine. While the services here are not top-tier, they do provide comfort, albeit in a modest manner. However, one remarkable aspect worth mentioning is that despite temptations to pollute the lake, the government has managed to resist, allowing the water to retain its pristine charm. For the most part, it is safe for swimming. This is largely due to the efforts of a company that recently built the upscale Flamingo Dai Lai resort on the shores. This luxurious resort boasts a beach, water sports, and waterfront properties, resembling a European resort town more than a typical Vietnamese destination. Although it comes at a hefty price and mainly caters to residents and pre-booked guests, it adds an air of elegance to the area.

Outside the private Flamingo resort, there are also other affordable accommodations along the shoreline. However, one should bear in mind that Vietnam is not renowned for its exceptional customer service.

The Perfect Getaway That Does Not Involve Going to the Airport

The calmness of the water and freshness of the air, thanks to the surrounding mountains and vast forests, present a stark contrast to the exhaust fumes of Hanoi’s motorcycles. It’s no wonder that more people are drawn to Dai Lai Lake each passing season. Many locals choose to take a dip in the inviting water or spend a leisurely Sunday afternoon boating around. Dai Lai Lake might just be the birthplace of a burgeoning boating culture in Vietnam.

Resorts and Villas readily available for your staycation

For those who love hiking and mountain climbing, there are exciting challenges awaiting in the nearby woods. Nhe Pass and Mo Qua Mountain, known for their towering cliffs, offer an adventurous escapade. The friendly locals are always willing to offer assistance if you need directions. Additionally, history buffs will find excitement in exploring the Old Castle of Nguyen Danh Phuong. Established over 300 years ago during the turbulent period of King Le and Lord Trinh’s rivalry, this castle holds fascinating historical significance.

If you’ve spent too long in the bustling awesomeness of Hanoi and need a break, look no further than Dai Lai Lake.
