Step 1: Vaccination
First and foremost, ensure that your pet is vaccinated against rabies at least 30 days before traveling to Vietnam, but no more than a year in advance. Download the veterinary certificate and have it filled out by an accredited veterinarian. This certificate will certify that your pet is in good health, free of parasites, and not carrying any diseases transmittable to humans.
Step 2: Attach the “Pet’s Inoculation Record” to the “Veterinary Certificate”
The “Pet’s Inoculation Record” contains a comprehensive record of all the vaccinations administered to your pet. This includes vital information such as the vaccine’s name, manufacturer, lot or batch number, as well as the dates of administration and expiration. While rabies vaccination is mandatory, other vaccines are optional. For dogs, recommended vaccines include Rabies, Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parvovirus, and Para Influenza. For cats, recommended vaccines include Distemper, Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Leukemia, and Rabies.
Step 3: Immigrant Process
Upon arriving in Vietnam, you will need to present the veterinary certificate and your pet’s inoculation record to the immigration officer. You can do this right after collecting your checked-in luggage and taking your pets. The officer will verify the documents and allow you and your pets to leave the airport. Special Note
During the flight, your pet will be placed in a crate. To make the journey more comfortable for them, we recommend setting up a crate inside your home a few hours a day before the flight.
