    4. An Thoi Archipelago

Phu Quoc, with its long, heart-shaped island and a stunning 20-kilometer beach known as “Long Beach,” is home to one of the most captivating sunset experiences in Vietnam. The combination of its unique geography and vibrant atmosphere makes Long Beach the go-to destination for witnessing breathtaking sunsets. With trendy cafes, lively bars featuring DJs and live bands, and an abundance of delicious food, it’s no wonder that Long Beach draws crowds yearning for a front-row seat to nature’s daily spectacle.

Beyond Long Beach

If you’re looking for a fresh perspective and a quieter setting, Phu Quoc offers several lesser-known but equally sublime sunset viewpoints. Let’s uncover these hidden gems.

Ganh Dau Cape

Located on the northern tip of Phu Quoc’s western coast, Ganh Dau Cape stands in stark contrast to the bustling atmosphere of Long Beach. This secluded beach is nestled between the steep slopes of the nearby mountain range and the calm, shallow waters. Surrounded by thick jungle foliage, Ganh Dau Cape exudes a sense of tranquility and untouched beauty. As you relax on the beach, you’ll be treated to a view of Cambodia’s ridged blue islands emerging from the vast ocean. The colors of the sunset infuse the scene with vibrant hues, casting a mesmerizing contrast against the silhouettes of fishing boats dotting the horizon.

Dinh Cau Cape

Perched on a narrow islet where Duong Dong River meets the sea, Dinh Cau shrine has long been a spiritual site for local fishermen seeking blessings for their voyages. As the sun begins to descend, climb the 29 stone steps to the temple grounds. In front of you, the ocean blends with the ethereal hues of pink and orange, creating a mesmerizing backdrop. To the left, the beach fades into the distance, framed by swaying coconut trees. To the right, the tranquil waters cradle numerous moored boats. As darkness sets in, the twinkling lights of squid-fishing boats emerge, resembling a celestial display of stars.

Ong Lang Beach

Just north of Duong Dong town, Ong Lang Beach is a picturesque stretch of coastline punctuated by crescent-moon-shaped sandy bays and striking black volcanic rocks. The thin, white-sand beach is embraced by lush vegetation, providing a serene setting for beachgoers. Ong Lang Beach strikes a perfect balance between comfort and authenticity, with paved roads, cozy cafes, and restaurants offering a blend of local and international cuisine. Take a moment to savor the sunset as darkness envelops the world, with nature surrounding you from every angle – trees to the east, volcanic rock to the north and south, and the endless ocean to the west. Follow a hidden path to the Nguyen Trung Truc shrine, where locals leave incense, infusing the air with a touch of spirituality.

An Thoi Archipelago

To the south of Phu Quoc lies the An Thoi Archipelago, a chain of islands each offering its own picturesque sunset views. Hop on a tour boat to explore these islands and find a west-facing beach to witness the majestic sunset. The vastness of the ocean envelopes these small islands, creating a captivating panorama of colors as the sky gets painted with hues of gold and orange. Among the islands, Dam Ngang Island stands out with its surreal landscape of peculiar rock formations piercing the water. For a unique vantage point, take the cable car back to the main island during sunset, and marvel at the sun sinking into the ocean from high above the horizon as you make your way back to Phu Quoc Island.
