Built between 1930 and 1943, the church showcases a seamless blend of 17th-century French style and traditional Vietnamese folk art. Before 1975, it served as the main abbey for over 50 female Vietnamese nuns who dedicated themselves to various social activities, including running orphanages and kindergartens. The 3-meter-high statue of Mary, sculpted by French architect Jonchère in 1943, bears a striking resemblance to a Vietnamese woman. This statue was a generous gift from the wife of the Indochina governor, who was laid to rest behind the church as per her wishes.
