The Legend of the Black Virgin
Among the three mountains of the Nui Ba Complex, Ba Den Mountain holds a special place in the hearts of locals and visitors alike due to the captivating myth of Ly Thi Thien Huong, known as the Black Virgin. In the late 18th century, during the tumultuous conflict between Trinh King and Nguyen Kinh, a courageous young man named Le Sy Triet from Quang Hoa left his beloved, Ly Thi Thien Huong, to join the army of Nguyen Hue, a general who would later become King Quang Trung.
Ly Thi Thien Huong, a beautiful girl with a radiant tan complexion, remained faithful to her lover even in his absence. Tragically, she was coerced into marrying a powerful man from the village. Overwhelmed with despair and sorrow, she chose to protect her purity by ending her own life, jumping off a mountain cliff. Deeply remorseful for the loss of her beauty and loyalty, people constructed a temple on this very mountain, which was then renamed Ba Den Mountain, to honor and worship her. As word spread of this touching story, pilgrims from all corners of the world began to visit the temple during springtime, creating a tradition that has endured for generations.

In the past, reaching Ba Den Mountain was a challenging and time-consuming endeavor. However, thanks to recent developments, the journey has been made considerably more accessible.
